PROJECT IN THE NEWS: Wilshire Temple receives $30 million donation

ImagePhilanthropist and member Erika Glazer just pledged $30 million over the next 15 years towards the restoration of the Wilshire Temple.

Wilshire Boulevard Temple’s congregation was the first synagogue in Los Angeles, and the current temple was built in 1929.  This Byzantine strucutre was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.  The restoration work start in October 2011 and is scheduled for completion for Rosh Hashanah services this September.

KC Restoration and Lehne & Son have been working at the Temple for years painting and maintaining the doors and windows.  Our current work during this huge restoration project includes decorative paint restoration, gilding, stenciling restoration, restoring and recreating the Zenitherm, door restoration, and window restoration (including some of the decorative leaded glass windows).

Check out this article and pictures at the LA Times, our own Amy Higgins even made it into one of the pictures.
