K.C. Restoration is attending the LA Conservancy‘s annual award’s luncheon today, where the Wilshire Boulevard Temple is receiving the prestigious President’s Award!
The Temple was also featured on NPR today.
The LA Conservancy just announced the Wilshire Boulevard Temple has been recognized with the President’s Award for their 2014 Preservation Awards!
We’re also gearing up to start work on Phase 2 – the restoration of the historic school on the Wilshire Boulevard campus.
And, a new book has just been released all about the history and restoration of the Temple.
Philanthropist and member Erika Glazer just pledged $30 million over the next 15 years towards the restoration of the Wilshire Temple.
Wilshire Boulevard Temple’s congregation was the first synagogue in Los Angeles, and the current temple was built in 1929. This Byzantine strucutre was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The restoration work start in October 2011 and is scheduled for completion for Rosh Hashanah services this September.
KC Restoration and Lehne & Son have been working at the Temple for years painting and maintaining the doors and windows. Our current work during this huge restoration project includes decorative paint restoration, gilding, stenciling restoration, restoring and recreating the Zenitherm, door restoration, and window restoration (including some of the decorative leaded glass windows).
